Scripture Counseling

All of our counseling is based on the authority of the Scriptures.

Here are some of the Scriptures that show the basis of our counseling:

Jesus said: 
"The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine
eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great
is that darkness!" Matthew 6:22-23 Click here for complete exposition of this scripture.

Jesus also said: 
"Blessed are the pure (unmixed) in heart: for they shall see God." Mt. 5:8 

"But blessed are your eyes, for they see and your ears, for they hear." Mt. 13:16 

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." Mt. 4:4 

The Apostle Paul said:
"Unto the pure (unmixed) all things are pure (unmixed): but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but
even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." Titus 1:15 

The Apostle James said: 
"A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." James 1:8 "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded." James 4:8 

The Prophet Isaiah said: 
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind (imagination) is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee." Isaiah 26:3 

The Psalmist David said: (Ps16:8; 25:15 ; 119:18-37; 123:1; 141:8)
"I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved." 

"Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net." 

"Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law." 

"Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way." 

"Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens." 

"But mine eyes are unto thee, O GOD the Lord: in thee is my trust, leave not my soul destitute." 

Paul also said about the mind: 
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus ..." Phil. 2:5

"This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk in the vanity of their mind ... 
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind" Eph. 4:17&23 

"For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." Rom. 8:5-7 

"And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Rom. 12:2

Also, note these verses regarding counsel: 
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly." Ps. 1:1 

"The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations." Ps. 33:11 

"Where no counsel is, the people fall but in the multitude of counselors there is safety." Prov. 11:14 

 "The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise." Prov. 12:15 

"Without counsel purposes are disappointed but in the multitude of counselors they are established." Prov. 15:22 

"Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. There are many devices in a man's heart;
nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand" Prov. 19:20-21 

"Every purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war." Prov. 20:18 

"For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counselors there is safety." Prov. 24:6 

"Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel." Prov. 27:9
