Ro 1:6 among whom you
also are the called of Jesus
Christ
THE
GENERAL CALL:
See Matthew 22: 1-14 (Concluding with verse 14- “For
many are called, but few are chosen.”
1 ¶ And Jesus answered and spoke to them again in parables, saying,
2 "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king, who gave a wedding feast
for his son.
3 "And he sent out his slaves to call those who had
been invited to the wedding feast, and they were unwilling to
come.
4 "Again he sent out other slaves saying, 'Tell
those who have been invited, "Behold, I have prepared my dinner;
my oxen and my fattened livestock are [all] butchered and everything is
ready; come to the wedding feast."'
5 "But they paid no attention and went
their way, one to his own farm, another to his business,
6 and the rest seized his slaves and mistreated them and killed them.
7 "But the king was enraged and sent his armies, and destroyed those
murderers, and set their city on fire.
8 "Then he said to his slaves, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were
invited were not worthy.
9 'Go therefore to the main highways, and as many as you find [there,]
invite to the wedding feast.'
10 "And those slaves went out into the streets, and gathered together all
they found, both evil and good; and the wedding hall was filled with dinner
guests.
11 "But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw there a
man not dressed in wedding clothes,
12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without wedding
clothes?' And he was speechless.
13 "Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and cast
him into the outer darkness; in that place there shall be weeping and
gnashing of teeth.'
14 "For many are called, but few [are] chosen."
(Contrast with Ac 13:48-
“And
when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the
Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal
life believed.”)

work together for good to them that love God, to them who are

partakers of the heavenly calling …

Jesus before the world began.
- A HUMBLE CALL –
1Co 1:26
For ye see your calling, brethren,
how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,
are called:
27 But
God hath chosen the foolish things of
the world to confound the wise; and God hath
chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which
are mighty;
28
And base things of the world, and things which are despised,
hath God chosen, yea, and things
which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
29 That no
flesh should glory in his presence.
30 But of
him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
31
That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the
Lord.
- A HOPEFUL
(CERTAIN) CALL –
Eph.
1:18-19 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened;
that ye may know what is the hope of his calling,
and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what
is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to
the working of his mighty power.
Eph 4:4
[There is] one body and one Spirit, just as also you were
called in one hope of your calling.
- A HELD
(unchanging) CALL –

For the gifts and calling of God are without
repentance.
1Th 5:23-24
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit
and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls
you, and He also will bring it to pass.

Christ our Lord.

Him who called you by the grace of Christ,
for a different gospel.

apart, [even] from my mother's womb, and
called me through His grace

of many witnesses.

Jas 2:7 Do they not blaspheme
the fair name by which you have been called?

like the Holy One who called you, be holy
yourselves also in all [your] behavior.
1Pe 2:9 But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A

His own kingdom and glory.
THE CALL WITH PURPOSE WILL
ALSO INCLUDE SUFFERING
1Pe 2:20-21 For what credit is there if, when you sin and are harshly
treated, you endure it with patience? But if when you do what is right and
suffer [for it] you patiently endure it, this [finds] favor with God. For
you have been called for this purpose,
since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow
in His steps,
1Pe 3:9 not returning evil for evil,
or insult for insult, but giving a blessing instead;
for you were called for the very purpose that
you might inherit a blessing.
1Pe 5:10 ¶
And after you have suffered for a little while,
the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will
Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen [and] establish you.
